When the going get's tough....

June 30, 2018

Tonight, I was scrolling through my Facebook feed, when I came across something that stopped me in my tracks (scrolling)

I came across one of many Facebook groups specifically created for the Defence Community. I came across a post, which got me thinking...

It gave me an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Defence life can at times be tough. Let’s be honest it can down right suck, BIG TIME!

What became clear to me from this post, on these defence family Facebook groups, was this. An Overwhelming response of Love and support. No Judgement, just genuine heartfelt support. I was reading comment after comment of people offering to come to this person’s house, to be a support for this person going through a tough situation, offers to met up for coffee, and just words of encouragement.

We are all strangers, but we are all united by this lifestyle. It was just heart-warming to see the beautiful compassion and empathy, where people could relate, where people genuinely cared.

In all these Facebook groups all I ever see is strangers, cheering on each other, celebrating with each other, supporting one another. Celebrating the highs and helping each other out through the lows.

We often must move away from family and friends, but it is a comfort to know that these little things like Facebook groups exist.

I’ve seen friendships develop through these pages. It often goes without saying that your “defence friends” become your family and that couldn’t be truer.

If you are finding things tough, reach out. Because there is a community of us to help lift you up again.

If you are going through a hard time, for what ever reason and you don’t know where to look to, here are a few links that have the resources to help you. It isn’t weak to speak, it isn’t weak to seek help and support.
